Why did George kill Lennie? In part six, something totally deplorable happened.  GEORGE KILLED LENNIE!  When I first read that part I couldn't make my brain to understand what had just happened.  I re-read that part easily 5 times.  It happened so fast!  After Lennie accidentally killed Curley's wife, I didn't think it could get any worse!  But it did. My first opinion on the matter is that George knew the guys were coming after Lennie to "shoot him in the guts" so maybe George wanted Lennie to not get hurt so badly.  Maybe George wanted Lennie to go to heaven so Lennie could get the "fatta lan" that's waiting up there for him.  George's last line to Lennie is, "'Sure, right now.  I gotta.  We gotta"'(106).  I think that George couldn't bear the thought of one of the other guys killing Lennie, so he killed Lennie himself.  Lennie is portrayed as a very innocent characters throughout the book, and so when he got killed it ...

Why do all the boys always think that Curley's wife is up to something?       When I read part 4 in Of Mice and Men, something was corroborated for me.  All the boys definitely think that Curley's wife is up to something.  At first I didn't blame them because she was never loyal to her husband.  Instead, she checked out other guys that were at the ranch.  And she was often "looking for her husband", or she "lost something".  She never really lost something, nor was she ever really looking for her husbandh.  But, I noticed something when she went into Crooks room, and all the guys wanted her out.  While the guys were telling her to leave she said, "'Well, I ain't giving you no trouble.  Think I don't like to talk to somebody ever' once in a while?  Think I like to stick in that house alla time? (77).'"  I realized that this was true, no one, including me, ever really thought she was just trying to have someone to talk ...

Why does George protect Lennie? During part 3, I realized that when George is talking to Slim, he protects Lennie.  Like on page 39 when Slim calls Lennie a cuckoo, but George says otherwise.  George says, "'He ain't no cuckoo.  He's dumb as h- but he ain't crazy.  I had to reread that line because in the past George is kind of mean to Lennie.  But then I remembered when Lennie offered to leave, but George said he wanted Lennie to stay with him.  I think that Geroge has gotton so used to Lennie and his childish ways, that he has come a little closer to accepting that.  Another reason why I think George is protecting Lennie is because he doesn't want to get fired again or be forced to leave because Lennie is crazy.  He wants to make some money and make the dream about the rabbits come true.  But what I found most odd was that Geroge did not only protect Lennie, but he called himself stupid.  On page 39 Geroge says, "'An' I ain't so b...

Why is Lennie so forgetful?      I realized that throughout part two of this charismatic book, that Lennie seemed very forgetful.  Lennie has to repeat things multiple times, just to remember.  Like when George tells him what to do if he gets into trouble.  George affirms, "'Hide in the brush by the river.  Say that over.'"  I beleive that Lennie is mentally disabled, because he always forgets things.  Also, he, not meaning to, gets into trouble.  He also has quite a mind - boggling amount of childish behavior for his age.  That corroborates ( ding)  my theory of his disability.  But, just because of his disability, or so I think, he is still very sweet, and loves soft things.
