2018 OMAM blog (C period)

  George kills Lennie. I was in tears because it was his best friend. He did it because Curley was going to make it long and suffering. I was still crying when I realized the George had done it so he would die happy. What made me the  saddest was the lines "'J* ch*,Lennie! You can't remember nothing that happens, but you remember ever' word I say'"(103). This kills me because  it shows us how much he cares about George and how he remembers everything because he cares that much. Then after Lennie is killed George throws the gun away. He seem terrified of what he just did. Slim walks over and sits on the bank with George to tell him that it will be okay, but for George he just killed his best friend. Carlson and Curley don't see what the big deal is. To them it was Lennie's life for killing Curley's wife's life, but for George he will never be able to look at himself the same way ever again.

I part 4 we get to meet a new part of Crooks. Under all his defense he is a very emotional person. He says to Lennie"'s'pose you didn't have nobody. S'pose you couldn't go into the bunk house and play rummy 'cause you was black. How'd you like that? S'pose you had to sit out here an' read books. Sure you could play horseshoes till it got dark, but then you got to read books. Books ain't no good. A guy needs somebody- to near him"(72). He is so lonely and yet he can't do anything because of how he is viewed. Then when Curley’s Wife comes in and everyone is telling her to leave. After candy tries to get her to leave and fails crooks says that he will tell Curley she replies with” ‘listen n*r,’…’you know what I could?’ Crooks seemed to grow smaller, and he pressed himself against the wall.’ Yes, ma’am.’ ‘well you keep your place then, n*r. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain’t funny.’ Crooks had reduced himself to nothi...

Lennie is super powerful and slightly terrifying in the fight with Curley.  After Curley came in and he saw that Lennie was laughing about something before he immediately assumed that Lennie was laughing at him for not being able to find his wife. He then proceeds to hit Lennie and make him back into a corner. "He[Curley] slashed at Lennie with his left, and then smashed down his nose with a right. Lennie gave a cry of terror."63 Lennie is scared and Slim says that he'll take on Curley when George  "'Wait a minute, 'he shouted. He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, 'get him, Lennie'" He has to scream that once more before Lennie listens and when Curley takes another swing and Lennie caught it in his hand. After George gets him to let go "Curley sat down on the floor, looking in wonder at his crushed hand . Slim and Carlson bent over him. Then slim straightened up and regarded Lennie with horror ." Slim is for at least a mom...

One thing that I noticed about Lennie is how sweet he is. He doesn't really understand the world around him and has a hard time understanding how strong he is. He is this little boy trapped in a giant’s body. on page 10 he explains why he keeps killing the mice but he doesn't care that they are dead he is just happy about the texture of the mouse. throughout part 2 he tries to keep quiet as much as possible as to not upset anyone. on page 19 Lennie copies everything that George does with his bed following Georges lead. When he’s talked to by the boss he freezes up and looks to George for help. He acts like a scared kid. Then when Curly stands up to him and tries to intimidate him he tries to be small and quiet. Then when he meets curlers wife he has this wow she’s pretty moment. This shows that he is nothing but a big sweet heart.
