Why do you think George wasn't mad at Lennie before he shot him?

In part 5 in of Mice and Men, Lennie kills Curley's wife, on accident. Then, in part 6 in  of Mice and Men,  George finds Lennie hiding in their safe spot by a river. George talks Lennie as if he didn't care that Lennie killed someone and that it was no problem. However, after that George "[steadied the gun] to the back of Lennie's head" (106) and shot him dead. I think George cared about Lennie but knew his "mental" condition was unfixable which is why George was nice to Lennie before he shot him so Lennie didn't grab on to him or attack him. Also, I think that George wanted to live his own life without having to look after and care for Lennie.

Why do you think Curley's wife married Curley?

In part 4 in of Mice and Men Curley's wife shows up looking for Curley, again. In each of the previous parts in the book Curley's wife and Curley are playing a game of hide and seek. It seems like those two spend more time looking for the other then together, which is why I wondered why they got married in the first place. Also, Curley's wife described Curley as just "' [a] swell guy '" (78) and Curley's wife doesn't really talk about how great Curley is and how much she loves him, if she actually does. She usually asks the buckers where Curley is and gives Slim "the eye" which made me think that she doesn't like Curley and may be interested in other men.

Why does Candy not want to kill his dog? part 3

In Part 3 (pg. 38-51) of Mice and Men , Carlson tries to convince Candy to shot his dog but Candy keeps saying that he has had his dog to long. Carlson explains to Candy that the dog is miserable and shooting him is in the dogs best interest. However, Candy says "Well-heck! I had him so long. ... You wouldn't think to look at him now but he was the best dang sheep dog I ever seen" (pg. 44) I think that Candy is worried that he will be lonely without his dog and is not even thinking about the dog's health. But in the end, Candy mans up and kills his dog. However, after the men in the cabin hear the shot Candy doesn't return to the cabin. Do you think killing the dog was the right decision? How do you think Candy will act?

Leadership Ladder

In Part 2 I think that Curly is high in the leadership leader because his father owns the ranch but when the chapter ended Slim seemed to be at the top as well. Most of the ranchers look up to Slim when they want an opinion or advice. Also the ranchers listen Slim unlike they will with Curly because he is arrogant and rude. For example when Slim walks into the room the author described him as " A powerful, big-stomached man". This shows that men like him and think he's the best unlike when Curly walked in the room and the author described him as a man with a high ego. Therefor, I think that Curly is second on the ladder because his dad owns the ranch but I also think that in the ranchers mind Curly is second to Slim.

Here we go!
